Though not his birthplace, it is considered Leo’s paternal home. Here he said farewell to his parents on the 14th of may 1940, before fleeing from the German Occupation. To commemorate this fact a plaque was placed, containing a verse of Leo’s: “When I was little and this country hadn’t yet…”. Leo, his wife and their daughters have been visiting the Krugerlaan on several occasions.

Walk back to the Zoutmanstraat (opposite Krugerlaan nr. 81) end turn left at the end of it. You’re now on the Burgemeester Martenssingel again. Pass the water and turn to your left.
