Back in 1910, the "Gemeentelijke Lichtfabrieken Gouda" provided light to Gouda and its surroundings. Light, because households used electricity primarily for lighting above the kitchen tables. No vacume cleaners, laundry machines or dryers. Around the table you could find famlies of more generations: grandfathers, sons, granddaughters. Eating, joking, quarreling, all at the table and in the late evenings a "borrel".
