Leave ‘HIP Mode & Accessoires’ and head to the right. You will pass ‘De Vlaam’, owner of -possibly- the eldest recipe of the (Gouda) Syrup waffle, dating from 1810. De Vlaam recently opened the Syrup Waffle experience, a chance to see the production process of the Gouda Syrup waffles.

At the other side of the ‘Markt’ you may spot the eldest cigar & tobacco shop in the Netherlands ‘Fa. D.G van Vreumingen’. Enter this shop and go back in time to… 1836. In that year Van Vreumingen started a shop and cigar factory. The original clay pipe from Gouda is still for sale here and you will see at least twenty historical tobacco pots made of Delft’s blue, at least two centuries old. A historical shop, worth it a visit, even for non-smokers.
